Hi, I'm SHOHINI!
Singer-songwriter, treble-maker
Here For You with Hope
Shohini is an independent singer-songwriter with roots in India and based in Singapore, creating pop music infused with jazz, funk and rock. Her latest single here for you just released on May 8th.
Shohini writes emotive, relatable and hopeful songs about everyday experiences, reminding listeners that they always have the power to choose, no matter what they are going through. Her music offers a safe space to anyone who has experienced loss, grappled with self-doubt and hopes for healthier relationships with others and themselves. She believes that life is too short and too long to not be fully lived, and hopes her music can be the soundtrack for both strength and celebration for her listeners.
Since first emerging on the music scene in 2022 with her single Day Before a Monday, Shohini has covered a rich and diverse soundscape through four more singles. In 2024, she released her debut EP Polarity about the duality of life, navigating the contrasting experiences of joy and sorrow, optimism and despair. The following year saw Shohini share blueprint, the first and title track from her next upcoming body of work, through which she invited her listeners to reflect on building their lives with intention.
Shohini entered her NO THANKS era with her first release of 2026: an upbeat and defiant pop single rejecting the filtered fronts and societal pressures that fuel modern-day anxiety. Shohini reframed a heavy theme into an infectious celebratory anthem, inviting listeners to reclaim their main character energy with boundaries and bouncy grooves.
Shohini celebrated the release of NO THANKS with an appearance on CNA938's "Culture Club" with Melanie Oliveiro. NO THANKS was also featured on Mediacorp 987FM and on Hear65's music video guide for February. Shohini performed NO THANKS, along with her older originals as part of All Things New 2026 at Esplanade Theatres on the Bay, Singapore.
NO THANKS is currently featured in the latest refresh of Hear65's "I Play SG Music" campaign that is part of a wider collaboration with the Singapore National Arts Council and transportation service provider SMRT, bringing her music to commuters at 134 transit stations across Singapore. With new music and new live shows planned for the rest of the year, she is excited to bring her listeners along the journey to create their "blueprint" for lives well-lived.
Shohini was previously featured in Hear65’s list of “7 rising artists from Singapore to keep an eye on in 2024” and by Expat Living. She has played at multiple venues across Singapore, such as Saylah Studios, The Blackbird, Blu Jaz, Resurrack and Timbre. Her performances have also helped raise funds to support under-resourced Singaporean youths through her collaboration with Kita, a non-profit where she volunteers as a mentor.
Music is Shohini’s source of community, connection and healing. Through the universal language of emotions in her songs, she hopes to extend that sense of acceptance and belonging to her listeners, helping them feel seen and understood.
“Shohini’s new single ‘NO THANKS’ is an infectious pop bop packed with groove, grit, and grace. The track throws off the weight of societal expectations and toxic self-doubt in favour of radical self-acceptance. With funk-tinged production and empowering lyrics like “No thanks, I’ll pass on this unfiltered envy,” Shohini invites listeners to reclaim their joy and set boundaries — all while dancing to the beat. Rooted in her personal reckoning with self-doubt and existential dread, 'NO THANKS' offers a catchy reminder that choosing yourself is not just valid — it’s powerful.”
